ESSEX BLADES: Women's Rugby Union

Played rugby before? Never played before? Not even sure what rugby is?

We are UOEWRFC...the University of Essex Women's Rugby Club, we are a friendly, sociable team that trains hard and plays hard. 

We train on Mondays and Friday evenings. With Touch Union Rugby on Tuesday 6-7pm to help progress our skills. We play BUCS matches most Wednesdays, as well as, tournaments and friendlies throughout the year against other clubs and universities!

To attend our training sessions no experience is necessary! Our training sessions are inclusive to everyone.

Regular meeting times, socials, events

Club Training: On the rugby pitches, meet at the pavilion.

Monday: 6-7:30PM

Tuesday: Touch Union 6-7PM, STP Pitches

Wednesday: BUCs fixtures!

Fridays: 6-7:30PM

For training, we meet 15 minutes before start time at the pavilion to put on boots, get kit sorted, etc. so we can start on time.

Fed Socials: Wednesdays 9pm place and fancy dress theme changes weekly join our WhatsApp socials group or follow us on Instagram for more information.

To provide an environment where we can grow as individuals, team members, and rugby players.

To provide coaching opportunities & refereeing opportunities.

To provide each player with a challenging and fun level of coaching and training

To be the best social club, the team of the year, and win our league.

Club Objectives

To introduce the sport of rugby to girls who haven’t had a chance to try it before while helping both new and existing players to improve and develop their skills.

Have as much fun as possible playing rugby on and off the pitches! 

Play as many fixtures as possible to gain experience playing as a team and improve our play.

Continue to hold fed socials weekly as well as regular non-alcoholic socials.
