The Club:
The club is now entering its 4th year of being an established Essex Blades Sports Team. Although we are a fairly new team, we have managed to establish ourselves as a prominent sports team on campus, and would love for you to be apart of our amazing sports club.
We managed to win the Bronze standard award for our club last year, and are aiming for Silver, if not Gold this year around. We are also very charitable, and participate in many events to raise money for various charities, both independently, as well as alongside the university. We also compete in matches against other universities, and managed to rank 2nd out of 5 universities in the southern league. This year, we are looking to widen our competition range, by competing against other university Rounders teams across the country, and would love you to help us out, and keep us as one of the best rounders teams out there.
Our club is open to all abilities, ranging from those who have never played rounders, to those who are completely experienced, and are looking to compete alongside our first team. The team is extremely friendly and always strive to keep training fun and enjoyable. Finally, we hold socials every Wednesday night before Fed, which is mainly themed and always a laugh. So if you would like to be apart of the fantastic club, come along to our training sessions and see what we're about!
Training Times:
Friday 4:30-6pm (on the Astro Turf: behind the sports centre synthetic pitch)
(Wear suitable training clothes, that are comfortable and easy for you to train in. Also, as we are training outside, please make sure you dress in accordance to the weather)
Socials
Every Wednesday (Socials are usually themed, so keep an eye out on the Facebook group and at trading as to what we will be dressing up as each week. Time and location of social will also be confirmed both at training and on Facebook.
Non-drinking socials will be organised by our social sec along the year as well. Keep an eye out on our social media as to what non-drinking socials will be held, and when.
Club aims
1) Reach silver/gold standard for the club - Last year we managed to reach the initial bronze standard award for the club. This year, we shall aim to reach the silver standard, if not gold!
2) Increase and expand our Rounders family - Aim to recruit more people during fresher's fair, to increase membership, and have a fuller club.
3) Increase involvement in campus-based events - I.e. RAG week, Blades vs. Blades tournaments.
Club objectives
1) Maintain our 'friendly face' persona, whilst also enforcing a serious nature in regards to the sport.
2) To try and play more universities to build relationships and increase our sporting profile.
3) To try break the world record for the biggest Rounder's game ever played.
