Curious minds liberate.

Why do you want to represent your community?

I want to represent my community as the Education Representative because I am deeply motivated by the profound impact that science and health have on our lives. Science is integral to understanding the world around us; it fosters critical thinking, encourages innovation, and ignites curiosity. I believe that by promoting a comprehensive view of health - encompassing physical, mental, and social well-being, we can empower students to take an active role in their own health and the health of our community. It’s also crucial to address the parts of the world that need public health measures the most, particularly marginalised and oppressed groups who face significant health disparities. Addressing these inequities is vital for fostering a truly inclusive and equitable society. In an era marked by global challenges like climate change, disease outbreaks, and the quest for sustainable solutions, scientific literacy is essential. It equips us to tackle these issues thoughtfully and collaboratively. As your representative, I will advocate for initiatives that enhance awareness, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, and inspire continuous development, ensuring our community thrives in both knowledge and well-being. Ultimately, I believe that true progress is rooted in collective liberation, where the health and well-being of all individuals are prioritised, which helps pave the way for a more just and equitable society.

How would you aim to engage with your community?

I aim to engage with my community by actively seeking student feedback through regular forums to understand their needs and concerns. I plan to leverage social media platforms to keep the lines of communication open. Also by collaborating with different university societies, I would be involved in workshops and events that address the interests of our community, fostering a sense of connection and shared purpose. Transparency in decision-making is also vital; I would ensure that students are informed about council decisions and involve them in discussions around key initiatives. By creating inclusive spaces for dialogue, I aim to ensure that every voice in our community is heard and represented.
