Panel and discussion on ‘Trans Day of Remembrance: grieving and resisting together’
This year, to mark Trans Day of Remembrance, we are holding a panel to educate ourselves on the meaning of trans day of remembrance, and reflect on the cultural, social and political environment that fosters anti-trans violence.
The members of the panel will reflect on the need to acknowledge the loss of trans people due to violence and oppression, and reflect on ways in which trans communities can empower themselves both within educational institution, and outside.
Following the panel, we will go together to attend a Trans Day of Remembrance Vigil at Colchester Town Hall at 7pm.
Speakers:
Matteo Bassetti (He/They), PhD Candidate in Human Rights.
Merry Mushka (They/Them), Accessibility and Wellbeing Adviser.
EJ-Francis Caris-Hamer (ze/Zir), PhD Candidate and Lecturer in Sociology.
If you require help with transport getting to the Vigil in Colchester at 7pm, please book the free + transport ticket. If you book this ticket after the 17th November, we will not be able to guarantee assistance with transportation.
Please note that no photography or filming will be taking place during this event.
