GET A HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE CARING FOR FARM ANIMALS!
NOTE: This event is for Southend Students only.
Be a part of this year's VTeam One-Off Project based in Southend campus. This year, we are partnering with The Salvation Army, with the goal of helping their animals in the Rare Breeds Centre. This is the perfect opportunity for students, who love animals, to participate and create new experiences.
Please come dressed in clothes you do not mind getting dirty and suitable for the weather on the day and some clothes to change into at the end of the day, so you go home clean. If you have steel toe capped footwear, please bring them with you, but we can lend you some on the day. You will be working outside all day and this is a physical role. Please bring plenty of water and some snacks to keep you going
Transportation will not be included, however tickets will be reimbursed. Please keep receipts!
Tasks for the day will include;
- Cleaning out poultry pens
- Cleaning small animals
- Creating enrichment for small and animals
- Creating enrichment for livestock
- Building new animal houses
- Setting up fields for animals to be turned out into
- Painting animal housing
- Painting animal pen fencing
- Building wildlife homes around the site
- Planting hedges and wildlife friendly
- Maintaining wildflower maze
All students attending will have to complete an attached one-off volunteering form that will be sent after registering. Please can this be done and sent back by Tuesday 11th March.
