The possibilities of where your degree can take you are endless.
To celebrate International Women's Day 2022 (the day before this event), we’re running a panel featuring Women in STEM which is your chance to hear from inspiring female role models working in STEM careers. Our panel of alumnae (Essex graduates) are working in a variety of sectors and will provide insights to the cutting-edge work STEM women are delivering daily.
The alumnae taking part studied Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Economics and Psychology and are now working in a variety of roles: Biomedical Scientist, Client Engineer (Games Programmer), Procurement and Supply in telecommunications, and Principal Researcher / Consultant. We'll also hear from the Women in STEM society who will talk about their work and why STEM roles and companies are great options for your career.
You don't have to be a STEM student to work in some areas of STEM, or indeed, attend this event!
You’ll also have the opportunity to ask them questions for tips and advice. If you're not sure what to ask, here are a few topics to consider as a start point:
-
Aspects of your job search that concern you. Ask if they’ve been in similar positions and how it worked out
-
Hints and tips based on their experience
-
What resources / techniques they found really helpful
