We are excited to bring back one of our biggest, most exciting events - The CSEE Society Hackathon 2025!

What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is an exciting, creative-driven event in which you will create a product, either in teams or solo, based on a given theme during a set deadline

• Theme Announcement: We give everyone a theme to work with i.e. "Pathfinding" on the day

• Team Formation: Participants will form their teams (maximum of 4 per team) or choose to go solo

• Project Idea Presentation: You will come up with an idea as a team and present it to everyone. Ideas could be, for example, a pathfinding algorithm, robot navigation or maze game/simulation

• Begin Work: After we have a rough idea what everyone plans to create, we will leave you to get on with your work.

• Development Time: You will have a full week to create their product. We will check in during the week.

• Final Presentation: At the end of the event, you will present your product (or documentation/designs of one) to our panel of judges (including some special guests!) where we will provide feedback

• Winner Announcement: Teams will each receive a score based on creativity, functionality, relevance to the theme and bonus points for our diversifiers. There may be some fun prizes for the winning teams!

Why should we participate?

This event is the perfect excuse to challenge yourselves and add to your portfolio. You will gain valuable experience working in a team and your project will look amazing on any job/placement applications!

• Theme and Diversifiers: The theme will be announced on the day, with a list of optional bonus categories for teams to aim for
