Join us this Thursday along with the Essex Transitional Justice Network and the Human Rights Centre for a screening of the film “Granito: How to Nail a Dictator” in Cine 10.
The film tells the story of the thirty-year struggle to bring former Guatemalan dictator Efraín Ríos Montt to justice. The filmmaker, Pamela Yates, finds a previous documentary of hers (When the Mountains Tremble) embroiled in the trial; becoming forensic evidence for genocide against the Mayan population. The film will be followed by a Q&A and discussion featuring experts from the University’s very own faculty: Dr. Ebba Lekvall, Prof. Sabine Michalowski and Prof. Carla Ferstman
