What the hell is going on here?

The world doesn’t feel real anymore. Have you noticed that?

It feels like we are in the worst possible state we’ve been in. It feels alienated. It feels destroyed beyond repair.

Ukraine, Palestine, Sudan, Myanmar, Congo, Yemen, Armenia, Xinjiang, Hong Kong, Georgia, Kashmir, Tibet, Kosovo, West Papua, there’s too many to name.

But there’s a bright side, right? Nah, not really.

Oh, but you’re talking about America right, well, they’re always a bit kooky? Well, this is a bit different.

As we speak, Ukraine, a sovereign country. A country that has had defined borders since the Belovezha agreement, is about to be cut in half by a spiteful president of the United States and his idol in the Kremlin.

As we speak, the “leader of the free world” posted an AI generated video of Gaza WHICH HE DOES NOT CONTROL being turned into a nightmare resort.

As we speak, the United Kingdom is trying to pass ANOTHER protest bill to stop people using their democratic rights.

I’m not a negative person, at least I don’t try to be. This is just me telling you what’s going on. I struggle to get up in the morning because I know something new will just make it harder for me to draw breath.

I don’t say these things because I am ideologically opposed to… Genocide and the destruction of any semblance of international law, I’m trying to be balanced here.

I can’t lie to you, the 2 people reading this (Hi Mom!), because even if I did try to fool you, everything else would rip you right back into reality.

The rich and powerful have never cared about the people they have control over, but now it’s more blatant than ever that as capitalism hits crisis after crisis from pandemics and wars. How are those tariffs working out as the prices rise? How are those lower taxes working out? How are those negotiations working out as a world leader and president of a country under siege is flown to the center of the United States to be humiliated in a petty and childish display of ego and then told to say thank you for it?

I’ve been miserable for a very long time. I’ve been tired for a very long time. I’ve tried my best to make the world around me a better place but it has not been easy.

People have grown callous, people have grown cruel, and people hate anything so easily.

Tell me this isn’t some sort of dystopian nightmare huh?

It’s obvious who to blame though. The rich. They did this.

They made the algorithms to shove rage inducing content into your view. They funded these war machines around the world. They’re taking from the government as they please and making you pay for it.

But also billionaires run everything now so, nothing we can do about it, right?

Ha! Fooled ya, sorry.

There’s a lot you can do, Volunteer, boycott, go to a protest. Speak out, speak to your community, be informed.

These are hard, I know. We live in a world now where all of our infrastructure is tearing us apart between staying at home all the time and also spending our money as much as possible.

Be careful of your environment, be smart in your consumption of media and commodities. Be kind. Just be a kind person.

I don’t mean to be sappy, and I’ve certainly fallen victim to these structures designed to make me lash out or just cry really hard. But I’ve grown from that. I don’t get angry anymore, I know their games. I know how they try to control people.

If we want a better world, time is running out. There’s what? Under a decade left before irreversible climate change and half the world sinks under the sea. The change does start with us, we need to do better.

It’s easy to give up and be docile, but you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.
