Hey Everyone! It feels like such a long time ago when I last wrote one of these updates. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and a good new year. Hopefully everyone has come back feeling refreshed and ready for this year that we have ahead of us. So here is what I’ve been up to since last time.

Lunar New Year

I’m so happy with how Lunar new year came along. Everything that me and engagement worked on together and planned went smoothly. From the workshops that we put on throughout the week to the 2 performances that we had on Friday from the K pop society and the External lion dance performers that came to perform. I want to thank everyone that helped with the events during that week from the student staff to the engagement staff. I also want to thank the Origami society, kpop society and Rob from engagement for his hard work.

One World Essex

One World Essex is still being worked on. This is because this is a bigger event and it needs participation from a lot of different people to make it come together. A email with different type forms will be sent out later this week to societies and reps on how they can get involved and how they can help. A One World Essex fashion show is also being worked on, its in its very early stages I will be setting meetings with the relevant reps to help me carry this out. Along with this One World Essex is also getting a brand refresh, to make it look fresh and up to date.

Online communities

This has been a project that was meant to be easy on paper, but there’s been some obstacles along the way. Which we learned from and adapted. The plan is now to get online communities up and running om WhatsApp. By doing we hope that students will connect with each other and also find students with similar interests. Were aiming to get this up by the end of the week or very early next week.
