Celebrate Holi with Essex SU: A Festival of Colour, Culture, and Community!

Holi, often called the Festival of Colours, is one of the most joyful and vibrant celebrations in the world. Rooted in Hindu tradition, it marks the arrival of spring and symbolizes love, unity, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil. While Holi has its origins in India and Nepal, it is now celebrated by people of all backgrounds across the globe, bringing together communities in a lively explosion of colours, music, and joy.

The festival is particularly significant in Hindu culture, with different regions celebrating it in unique ways. Beyond its religious significance, Holi is a cultural celebration embraced by millions, including people from various faiths and nationalities. The spirit of Holi is all about inclusivity, happiness, and breaking down barriers—and that’s exactly what we aim to bring to our Essex community!

At Essex Students’ Union, Holi has become one of the biggest and most exciting celebrations of term two and three, bringing everyone together for fun, colour, and community vibes. Events where all students—no matter their background—can get involved and experience the magic of Holi!
