The Essex Blades Powerlifting Club hit the platform this weekend with one goal: lift heavy - and they did not disappoint.

The team took BUCS by storm, putting up some seriously strong numbers, breaking records, and repping the blades with pride.

đź’Ą Team Results: Strength in Numbers

  • Men’s Team - 3rd place with 32 points! 🥉

  • Women’s Team - 4 points, with standout performances across the board

  • Overall - 36 points total, earning 8th place nationally!

🏋️‍♂️ Individual Performances

Charlie Moore (120+kg)
Charlie proved that sometimes less is more - at 120.1kg, he was the lightest lifter in his category, but he didn’t just hold his own.

He pulled off a jaw-dropping 750kg total (Squat 255 / Bench 157.5 / Deadlift 337.5) and took home the gold 🥇

Joshua Ngoka (-120kg)
BUCS records? Broken. All of them. Josh crushed the squat, bench, deadlift, and total records in his class, racking up an insane 897.5kg total (Squat 341 / Bench 195.5 / Deadlift 361).

And did we mention he just competed at the British Junior Championships? No big deal.

Tyler Acheampong (-105kg)
Tyler bench-pressed his way to a new PB of 187.5kg (+7.5kg!) and finished with a strong 740kg total. He placed 9th but brought serious power and momentum.

Kelechi Azoro-Osuji (-93kg)
In only his second ever meet, Kelechi showed massive potential - PBs across the board (Squat 262.5 / Bench 160 / Deadlift 310), landing him in 5th place. Keep an eye on this one.

Rachel Rheam (84+kg)
Absolute perfection. Rachel nailed every lift with textbook execution, grabbing PBs in bench (80kg) and deadlift (162.5kg) for a 385kg total and an 8th place finish. A masterclass in consistency.

Millie Burton (-57kg)
Millie might be new to the sport, but she’s already making waves. After debuting in at Valentines Varsity in February, she came into this weekend hitting a PB squat of 102.5kg, a 57.5kg bench, and a 122.5kg deadlift. That’s what we call a rising star.

🎥 Watch the Magic Happen

Want to relive the hype? The whole meet is still available on YouTube - definitely check out Charlie’s gold-winning deadlift and any of Josh’s lifts (seriously, they look like warm-ups).

Essex Blades Powerlifting Club are officially BUCS beasts. Massive congrats to everyone who took part.
