WHAT IS OUR SOCIETY ALL ABOUT?

Hi! We are the Essex Uni branch of Amnesty International, here on campus. So, to get to know us better we must first introduce you to Amnesty International! It is a non-governmental organisation founded by Peter Benenson in 1961. Its main aim is to support human rights worldwide and to raise awareness about all kinds of human rights issues.

Here in Essex, we aim at our scale to continue the work of Amnesty International. Our goal is to raise funds as much as we can for associations and organisations for diverse causes and to raise awareness about various human rights issues. We aim to put that in place through debates, bake sales, socials, events, etc.

GET TO KNOW US

We have five execs, all second-year students studying French and English Law:

  • Malicia: President
  • Emily: Vice-President
  • Emma: Treasurer
  • Alice: Secretary
  • Anaelle: Welfare Officer

Want to be part of our team? Also, we are looking to fill two exec roles: social media manager and fundraiser officer. If you are interested or have any questions about those roles and their goals, come to CTC 3.01 on Wednesdays at 6pm (please look at our planning on our Instagram account as we might not be here every week!).

MEET THE TEAM!

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

By joining our society, you will find other members who care about human rights and want to make a change. We will organise different fundraisers, such as bake sales, and would love to collaborate with other societies for bigger events. Our weekly meetings will be cantered around different human rights issues, with small presentations and mostly debates. We will also do socials like game nights and movie nights.
