Everything you need to know...
Holi, the vibrant festival of colours, where everyone becomes a painter with memories and laughter, and the whole place is like one big playground. In Hindu and Indian culture, Holi isn't just a festival; it's a carnival of traditions and symbolic events that weave together the rich tapestry of history and mythology.
“In our culture, Holi brings all different kinds of people together. You can be rich, you can be poor, you can be all different genders and ethnicities, on Holi people come together and use colours to bond and have fun with each other,” Arryan Saini, Hindu Society President.
However, Holi isn't just about throwing colours at your friends; it's a celebration of good triumphing over evil. It celebrates Prince Prahlad's victory over the demon Holika, signifying the success of loyalty and morality. Today, Holi brings people together all over the world in a joyful carnival of colours, laughter, and love.
“Holi is a very fun event, you can meet and speak to new people while throwing colours and enjoy your time here at Essex University,” Chloe Joseph, Indian Society President.
Holi is a time for you to lose yourself in the vibrant tapestries of Indian culture and create lifelong memories, whether you're painting your friends, indulging in yummy sweets, or dancing to the beat of traditional music.
