Reporting Heating Issues on Campus

SU Council received feedback from students about inconsistent heating in campus buildings. Many reported that classrooms, libraries, and study spaces are too cold in winter, forcing them to wear outdoor coats indoors, while others have found certain areas uncomfortably warm. In response, we want to support SU Council by raising awareness of how students can report heating and thermal comfort concerns in main campus buildings 👇

How to Report a Heating Issue

If you're experiencing issues with heating, ventilation, or air conditioning (HVAC) in campus buildings, here’s what you need to do:

📌 Check the University’s Guidance

📌 Contact the Workplace Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team

📌 Who Assesses Your Complaint? Your complaint will be reviewed by one or more of the following:

  • Director of Estate Management
  • Departmental Health and Safety Officer (DHSO)
  • Health and Safety Liaison Officer (HSLO)

📌 Find Your Department Contact

By reporting heating concerns, you help improve campus conditions for all students. If you have any further feedback, reach out to your SU Council representatives to keep this issue on the agenda! You can find contact details and information about the next SU Council meetings here.
