WHAT IS BASKETBALL?
Basketball is a fast-paced team sport played with 5 players on each side.
The aim of the game is to score more points than the other team in four 10-minute periods by shooting the ball into a basket 10 feet above the ground.
You can dribble and pass to keep the ball moving and help you get past opponents trying to stop you from scoring.
HOW MANY TEAMS DO WE HAVE?
- Men's 1st team (BUCS Premier South)
- Men's 2nd team (BUCS South East 1A)
- Men's 3rd team (BUCS South East 2B)
At Essex we strive to provide innovative, athlete-centred programmes in our focus sports; Volleyball, Basketball and Rugby sevens. Every September we host trials for our 3rd Team, from here, trialists may earn opportunities to trial for a performance team. Players may also be offered trial sessions throughout the year.
Please note that your membership information will be used in conjunction with Essex Sport (University of Essex) purely for the purpose of providing access to required facilities and data analysis. Your data will not be shared with anyone else or used for marketing purposes. Memberships are manually uploaded to the Essex Sport system so it may take up to 5 working days before you can book onto your sessions via the Essex Sport app.
