WHAT IS POLE?
At the University of Essex Pole Dancing Club, we aim to provide a great environment for our members to have fun whilst learning the art of Pole Dancing!
Our classes are suitable for all abilities, from those who have never touched a pole before, to those who are more experienced. Although we are aware of the stigma that Pole Dancing can hold, we are always looking for ways to change this and are consistantly spreading the word that Pole Dancing is a fun, rewarding sport that deserves to be recognised.
As a member of our club, you will have a weekly pole lesson run by our amazing coaches, as well as open practice sessions and the option to partake in our optional Fitness + Dance Classes which will help you master those pole moves faster and improve your flow! Both these classes are taught with all levels of ability in mind so please don't be scared to come along!
HOW MANY TEAMS DO WE HAVE?
Although our club is based on class sign up rather than teams, we do have an ever-changing competition squad that we hold auditions for if you wish to compete for us!
Our squads compete in the categories of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Group Performance at various competitions throughout the year.
GET STARTED
To be a part of the club, you need to join up as a member. The different club membership options are listed below with a description of what each membership covers. By purchasing a membership you are agreeing to the club's code of conduct.
Skin contact is needed for Pole Dancing, so shorts are needed. Please do not wear rings, moisturiser, body oils or fake tan to the pole class as all of these can damage the poles.
PARTICIPATING MEMBERSHIP
This membership gets added to your account when you book onto any of the classes below. Allows the member to attend the specific class practice stated on the ticket. Includes all the benefits of basic membership and also provides insurance cover at sessions. Please note, staff and alumni may be required to hold an Essex Sport membership (Bronze, Silver, Gold) in order to access sessions.
Please note that your membership information will be used in conjunction with Essex Sport (University of Essex) purely for the purpose of providing access to required facilities and data analysis. Your data will not be shared with anyone else or used for marketing purposes. Memberships are uploaded to the Essex Sport system manually and so it may take up to 5 working days before you are able to book onto your session via the Essex Sport app and attend training sessions.
