Membership
Students have been fencing at the University for almost 40 years, making the club one of the oldest on campus. The club welcomes both beginner and experienced fencers, but is the perfect place to try a new sport. We offer club sessions twice a week with a qualified coach and our members are able to borrow kit and weapons from the club. Training covers all three weapons, footwork, internal competitions and the oppurtunity to represent the University in the BUCS league and the BUCS nationals. We are sociable and fun club and welcome anybody to come along and try.

Club aims
Our aims are to provide high-quality training where equal focus is given to beginners, experienced, male and female fencers. We want to exercise both mind and body in addition to fencing skills while maintaining a healthy balance between all three weapons, foil, sabre and epée. We want competing teams on all levels for both genders to ensure a highly competitive club where beginners are also given the opportunity to gain match experience. We also wish to play a role within the local community through volunteering and charity work.
Club objectives
To obtain this balance we believe the right approach is to have one professional coach with national experience, supported by several student coaches. To compete on multiple levels, our objective is to have at least two teams per gender where one team is aimed at competing at the highest level and another team with a focus on building match experience. Our final objective is to obtain and maintain the necessary equipment to run the club, the teams, and volunteering sessions and keep costs as low as possible for our members.
