Welcome to the University of Essex and to the Essex Logic Debate Society!
The Debating Society strengthens your debating, speaking, and reasoning skills in a fun and interesting manner. No matter if you are a skilled debater who has attended competitions or a total novice just wanting to try out something new, you are welcome at the society.
We engage in the British Parliamentary debating style. However, from time to time we engage in styles like Mace debating, Oxford style, and large group discussions. We have debates on current affairs, ethical issues, and much more.
Outside of our weekly meetings, we are a fun, friendly, and active society with socials after every session.
We plan to attend a number of formal debating competitions this year, hopefully catering to all levels of experience and ability.
