SOCIETY OF THE YEAR

Awarded to the society that has demonstrated outstanding performance, impact, and engagement throughout the year.

Latin America 🥇

The Latin American Society was honoured as the Society of the Year for its remarkable efforts in fostering an inclusive and vibrant community where students could celebrate Latin American culture. They hosted a diverse range of events, including lively Latino Nights at the SU Bar, engaging Salsa Classes, and thought-provoking culture discussions. Their collaboration with the Art Exchange for the 30th anniversary of ESCALA showcased their commitment to cultural appreciation. Furthermore, they worked closely with the LGBTQ+ society to create a platform for discussing queer Latin American experiences, highlighting their dedication to inclusivity.

NEW SOCIETY OF THE YEAR

Recognizes a newly established society that has shown exceptional initiative, growth, and potential since its start-up.

Applicable to societies who started in or after Term 2 of the academic year 23-24. Cannot be a re-started society within the last 2 years.

Ukranian 🥇

The Ukranian Society was awarded the New Society of the Year for its outstanding efforts in building a strong and supportive community for Ukranian students following the 2022 Russian invasion. Their participation in the international initiative “Unissued Diplomas” honoured Ukranian students who lost their lives in the war, while a screening of the Oscar-winning documentary 20 days in Mariupol shed light on the realities of the war. Their dedication to education, awareness, and community support made them a standout new society.

MOST ACTIVE SOCIETY OF THE YEAR

Awarded to the society that has hosted the most events and activities, promoting vibrant student experiences.

Model UN 🥇

Model UN won the Most Active Society award for its dedication to the International Model United Nations competition to debate against some of the most prestigious MUN teams in the world. Beyond debates, they organized fundraisers, took part in the Volunteering Fair, and collaborated with multiple societies, demonstrating excellent engagement.

Given to the society that has displayed remarkable student-led innovation and creativity in its initiatives and projects.

Hidden Disabilities 🥇

The Hidden Disabilities Society won the Powered by Students award for its dedication to creating a safe and supportive space for students with hidden disabilities while actively advocating for meaningful change. Through initiatives like collaborating with the Women’s Officer on periods and health related issues and working with the Head of Sports Operation to improve accessibility, they have made a lasting impact on campus inclusivity.

MOST EMPLOYABILITY FOCUSED OF THE YEAR

Recognizes the society that has prioritized professional development and career-building opportunities for its members.

Speech and Language Therapy 🥇

The Speech and Language Therapy Society won the Most Employability-Focused Award for its dedication to career development through expert-led events. Hosting nine guest speakers, alumni Q&A sessions on job applications, and monthly Journal Clubs, they provided members with invaluable industry insights while blending academic growth with engaging social activities.

EVENT OF THE YEAR

Highlights the most impactful or memorable event hosted by a society, showcasing excellent planning and execution.

Snow White and Seven Dwarfs Panto 🥇

This event was awarded Event of the Year for its remarkable scale, meticulous planning, and captivating execution. With a dedicated 39-member cast and crew, the production showcased outstanding choreography, set design, and scriptwriting, drawing a crowd of over 400 attendees with positive feedback, solidifying its success as a distinguished theatrical experience.

MOST CHARITABLE AWARD

Celebrates the society that has shown significant contribution in fundraising efforts and dedication to making a meaningful difference to a charity.

This award is not one you apply for, but will be decided based on money raised through the RAG account and the winner will be announced at the awards evening.
